Current Update

At McPherson First United Methodist Church, our building serves as more than just a structure—it's a place where we experience God's grace, live like Jesus, and participate in God's grace with our neighbors. As we plan for our future, we're taking thoughtful steps to ensure our church home can continue serving these vital purposes for generations to come.

The Leadership Board met February 12 to review the results of our recent feasibility study about replacing our aging heating and cooling system. "The level of engagement we saw throughout this process has been remarkable," says Rev. Kenneth Stewart, Senior Ministry Strategist with Horizons Stewardship. "Church members not only participated in the study but offered insightful questions about project scope, timeline, and funding approaches. This kind of thorough involvement typically leads to stronger outcomes."

Based on the study's encouraging findings, the Board has set an initial campaign goal of $1.75 million—a figure that reflects what our church family could reasonably achieve through faithful giving. Recognizing that the total project cost may exceed this amount, the Board will carefully evaluate additional funding approaches, including the potential use of investment funds, once detailed contractor proposals are received.

The next major milestone comes in April, when our HVAC Ministry Team will present contractor recommendations to the Board. This thorough review of options will give us the solid information needed to make wise decisions about project scope and funding strategies. These choices will balance our immediate needs with long-term financial stability.

To ensure we move forward with clear plans and strong support, the public phase of our capital campaign will begin in Fall 2025. This timeline gives us space to develop detailed specifications, engage lead donors, and build momentum as a congregation.
